    • Savanna Elephant
    • Forest Elephants

 

  • African Elephants presence in Africa was once in the millions but by the 1980s their populations dwindled to dangerous levels due to poaching.

 

  • Today African Elephants still remain in danger due to poaching for meat and ivory, habitat loss and conflict with humans.

 

  • African Elephants are considered a keystone species in that they maintain habitats for other species.
